Our History

Keys and Associates was formed over 30+ years ago. Archie Keys’ introduction to the insurance business began as a debit agent for Herald Life Insurance Company. His duties included collecting insurance premiums door to door 5 days a week and writing new policies.

Interestingly enough, we were Keys and Associates at the time and didn’t even realize it, because my wife Francine Keys was actively by my side preferring to stay in the background. She helped with the on going responsibilities.

During my first year in the insurance business; I realized that there was a better way that I could serve the public than working as a debit agent. I reached the highest award offered by Herald Life which was the District #1 agent for the state of Virginia in 1977. I continue to display this award currently in our office as a reminder of those times.

Realizing that there was more to the insurance industry and I had more abilities and desiring, besides a debit agent I decided to become an Independent Insurance Agent. At that time my office was the dining room table and going to the Post Office each morning to get my mail gave me the sense of being in business. A lot has happened since then, ups and downs but we were committed to continue in the business that we felt was predestined for us.

We established our first business office in Ashland, Va. Over 20 years ago, and through that endeavor we have recruited and trained many independent agents, many who have gone on to set up their own agencies? These agents drew from the training and the ethical standards they learned and were taught by us. We maintain business connections with many of these agents. Numerous relationships have been established over the years and we feel richly blessed that we’ve been able to help countless numbers of people in their individual and group insurance needs.

Over the last 15 years we have been offering employee benefits, from working with Federal Civil Service Employees setting up supplemental retirement benefits as well as life benefits that has enhanced their retirement portfolios. We still receive acknowledgements from federal employees of how they appreciate the work and services we provide.

We have shared our expertise and have built strong relationships with employees of Quantico Marine Base, Dahlgren, Defense General Supplies, Fort AP Hills, and VA. Hospital in Richmond, Va. And other VA Hospitals as well.

Final Expense Plans are another service that we provide that has made a major difference in the lives of people statewide at time of death

. Work Site marketing is currently and has been one of our specialties. In doing so, we have been able to provide plans that enhance the core benefits. Whereby assisting in building a better employer/employee relationship. Now where in healthcare is a household word for everybody; we find that our expertise and knowledge is most needed and helpful for employer/employee alike in today’s trying times.

Because we do have companies that understand the importance of employer/employee relationship; we are grateful that we specialize in bringing companies and products Together to FIT the specific needs of the requests that are brought to us.

We will continue to provide services that our clients, whether individual or group are accustomed to; we take pride in the letters and comments of gratitude that we receive from our companies as well as our clients of having a reputation of great services and no demerits in our records anywhere. We also believe that we can build even stronger services as we continue to look for companies that have a track record of sound stability.
